Bilateral Trade Volume Between Azerbaijan and China in 2024
The trade volume between Azerbaijan and China in 2024 reached USD 3.744 billion, a 20.7% increase compared to 2023.
Imports from China grew by 23.2%, reaching USD 3.725 billion.
Record Growth in Trade in Early 2025
In January–February 2025, the trade volume between Azerbaijan and China reached an impressive USD 745.4 million, which is 54.2% higher compared to the same period in 2024, highlighting the dynamic development of relations between the two countries.
These figures were published by the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, which noted that China ranks 4th among Azerbaijan’s largest trade partners, with a share of 8.37% of the country’s total foreign trade volume.
This indicates a consistently high level of economic ties between Azerbaijan and China.
Exports to China: Record Numbers
In the first two months of 2025, exports amounted to USD 10.9 million, which is 5.3 times more than during the same period in 2024.
This increase demonstrates China’s strong interest in Azerbaijani goods, as well as the expansion of the range of supplies, including agricultural and food products.
Imports from China: Positive Dynamics
Equally significant achievements were made in the field of imports. In January–February 2025, imports of goods from China to Azerbaijan amounted to USD 734.5 million, which is 52.6% higher than last year.
This dynamic confirms the active interest of Azerbaijani companies in Chinese products and technologies and underscores China’s importance as a supplier to the Azerbaijani market.
Growth Prospects and Strengthening Ties
The growth in trade between Azerbaijan and China is not limited to the volume of goods exchanged. Both countries are actively developing investment cooperation, especially in key sectors such as industry, oil and gas, high technologies, and green energy.
China remains one of Azerbaijan’s most important partners, and it is forecasted that, with the current growth rates, trade and investment relations will continue to strengthen in the future.
Thus, the beginning of 2025 has been a clear indication that economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and China continues to develop each year, opening new opportunities for business and investors in both countries.
