Total trade turnover

In 2024, the trade turnover between China and Azerbaijan increased significantly, reaching USD 3.744 billion, which represents a 20.7% increase compared to the previous year.

The following goods make up a significant portion of China’s exports to Azerbaijan:

  • Electronics and electrical equipment
  • Machinery and mechanical appliances
  • Automobiles
  • Iron and steel
  • Clothing and footwear

Main products exported from Azerbaijan to China:

  • Chemical substances
  • Agricultural products (cotton, hazelnuts, etc.)
  • Metals and ores

China’s share in Azerbaijan’s foreign trade.

China became Azerbaijan’s fourth-largest trading partner, accounting for 7.9% of the country’s total foreign trade turnover.

Thus, despite the decline in Azerbaijan’s exports to China, the overall volume of bilateral trade continues to grow, reflecting the strengthening of economic ties between the two countries.

Transition to 2025

In the first three months of 2025, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and China reached USD 1.02 billion, showing a 37% increase compared to the same period of the previous year.

The main drivers of this growth are intensified cooperation in the fields of transportation and logistics, as well as an increase in trade-oriented technological goods.

In 2024–2025, the relationship between Azerbaijan and China was elevated to the level of strategic partnership. This opens up new opportunities for expanding cooperation, especially within the framework of the “Belt and Road Initiative” and the development of the Trans-Caspian transport corridor.
